The Story
The dark stain used in on the timbers in this home was deliberately selected to give the home the feel of a European manor.

Southern Comfort has a full sunspace where the homeowners enjoy the view of the pond and spend many pleasant hours with family and friends. The dark stain used in on the timbers in this home was deliberately selected to give the home the feel of a European manor.

The stairs, railings and decorative beamwork are all options that are available with custom designed Enertia® homes. The massive stone fireplace is for visual warmth. The heating system in this house is the sun, sunspace and radiant thermal mass.

The cathedral ceiling is dramatic in the Southern Comfort. Architectural detailing in the "Craftsman" style adds interest, even to the ceiling of the home.

The Southern Comfort has an open plan, but is large enough to offer privacy with its east and west wings. In this view you can see the den/office in the the west wing.

A special feature of the Southern Comfort is the wide entry hall that opens to either the kitchen or the Greatroom. Large homes like the Southern Comfort also offer an opportunity for exposed timberframing.

The eat-in kitchen is spacious enough for a large island work space as well as a comfortable breakfast area.

The Southern Comfort has an internal timber wall between the main section of the house and each wing. This is the master bedroom in the East wing, with an office loft above the sleeping area, and an overlook into the entrance to the master suite with is accessed through the sunspace.

The upper level hallway connects the loft level of the master bedroom with the central area of the upstairs and gives access to two additional bedrooms. The central stone chimney rises through the center of the hallway.

Bedroom

Enertia® homes have a light, airy, liveable lower level. The massive walls and floor are warm-to-the-touch in winter and pleasantly cool in summer.

This Southern Comfort faces a beautiful pond which reflects low winter sun back into the sunspace when it is needed the most. Specially designed decks are another option on Enertia®: home packages.

The solar panels provide domestic hot water and hot water for the radiant piping in the walls and slab of the lower level. The generous overhangs keep the sun out of the living space in summer. This is a house that works with nature, not against it.
